We had a leisurely start to the day as we didn’t need to leave our hotel until 10am. The hotel had its own shopping centre adjoined to it so we wandered around window shopping to pass the time. The drive to the port of Yokohama, took about 30 minutes and after dropping our luggage off, we were soon waiting to be called through migration, so we could board our ship. The Diamond Princess will be our home for the next week or so and is fairly typical of cruise ships, very large, many bars, eateries and restaurants. We did a little exploring and decided to have lunch at an outdoor venue next to the pool on the 14th level of the ship. We are enjoying the beautiful weather and there were even some children in the pool. There was hyped up DJ and live band playing in this in this area. It was very loud and so we moved on after eating, doing some more exploring and then returning to our cabin to unpack. Our cabin has a very large window and is located on the 5th level in a convenient position. We found a restaurant for dinner and enjoyed a lovely 3 course dinner. Following dinner, we went to the theatre and saw a show called “Showtime: Witty Look: Perfectly Unbalanced”. This show feature two Japanese. acrobatic comedians/clowns and was full of fun, joy and amazing balancing acts on unicycles. Before the show started the stage background slide featured the name of the act and also the fact that the two performers had won awards at the Adelaide Fringe in 2025 and 2026. The show would be fabulous for all ages so if they are back in Adelaide next year, it is one to remember.
